Canjob Taproom is a homely neighbour bar nestled in a peaceful corner of Tiong Bahru. We offer a selection of local and international craft beers, cocktails, and quality bar bites. People seem to love Canjob for its chill and unpretentious atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the overall vibes that contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The bar is a popular spot in Tiong Bahru to hang out with friends, catch up over drinks, or simply unwind after a long day. Canjob Taproom also hosts regular music, food / drinks events, making it a fun and lively spot in the neighbourhood.
Where do you see the brand in 5 to 10 years
Our hope for Canjob is that it continues to be a comfortable space to our customers while offering great beers and cocktails. Our establishment is modest and we aim to maintain the same laid-back vibes that once – and that is a true story – made a patron feel so relaxed that he came in his underwear. Overall, I think we are achieving our goal of creating a distinct and hospitable atmosphere that feels safe for everyone. On a shorter-term, in the coming months, we aim to continue hosting small events and concerts as well so stay tuned for that!
How did the pandemic affect you?
Initially, after the initial lockdown, our business was not severely impacted by the pandemic. However, as multiple restrictions were put in place, we faced more challenges. Each policy change triggered emotional ups and downs, which were difficult to handle. Fortunately, we received government support for rental, but these restrictions negatively affected the sense of community we had established at Canjob. Despite these difficulties, we managed to make it through, and we are now working twice as hard to recover from the past couple of years. Thanks everyone for your continuous support! ❤️
What are some goals for the brand?
We are committed to preserving the simplicity that has made our taproom so special. As the world becomes more complex and stressful, we believe there will always be a need for places where people can connect in a genuine way. Our taproom offers a welcoming environment where individuals can come as they are, whether alone or with friends, and enjoy a refreshing pint or an honest pour of a cocktail. We are dedicated to providing a space where customers can unwind and take a break from the demands of daily life. Our aim is not to expand or grow drastically just keep it small cause that’s the way we like it.
Best memories with the brand
Our memories of Canjob are filled with joyous moments, such as the beginning when Jill and I were running the show, the food collaboration with Tiong Bahru Bakery where their delicious pizzas were served to our customers, the gigs we hosted, and the Montreal-smoke-meat event we had last January with chef Paul and Eddy. While we have so many fond memories, the most significant and meaningful ones have been the relationships we have formed and the wonderful times we have shared with our customers.
